Privacy Policy

Effective: November 2026

Ride Copilot is built so your rides stay yours. This policy explains what the app uses, why, and where it goes. Short version: your rides, photos, videos and garage are stored on your phone, plus a cloud backup of your rides if you have Pro. We do not run accounts, we do not sell data, and we do not track you.

1. Data the App Uses

Location

  • Precise location while you ride, to show speed, record your route, and look up speed limits, weather and traffic where you are.
  • Background location only while a ride is recording, so the ride keeps recording when the screen is off.

Motion Sensors

  • Lean angle, cornering g-force and fall detection. Processed on the phone.

Microphone & Speech

  • Only when you tap the mic, to answer spoken questions. Apple's speech recognition turns your words into text; Apple may process that audio under Apple's privacy policy.
  • A few seconds of engine sound when you pull away, for your ride videos. Kept on the phone.

Camera & Photos

  • Photos of your bike you take or choose for your garage. Kept on the phone.

Local Network

  • Finding riders' phones nearby when you choose to swap Rider Cards in person.

Ride Data

  • Rides, routes, stats, fuel logs, bike details, photos, videos and screen layouts. All stored on your phone, and removed when you delete the app. With Pro, a copy of your ride data (not photos or videos) is also kept as a cloud backup; see below.

2. Services the App Contacts

To show maps and conditions, the app sends your current location or route (never your name or an account id, because there is none) to:

  • Map tiles: Apple Maps, Mapbox, Esri (ArcGIS), OpenStreetMap and OpenFreeMap. Hill shading: public elevation tiles on Amazon Web Services.
  • Place names, roads and speed limits: OpenStreetMap Nominatim and Overpass (public mirrors at maps.mail.ru, run by VK, and overpass.private.coffee), and Photon by komoot (photon.komoot.io) for the town or peak name at each route weather spot.
  • Town and peak names at route weather spots: our server (Supabase) first. It receives only a map square of about 1 km and keeps the name answer for that square with no device key, IP address or other link to you, so riders can share it. If it can't answer, the app asks Photon directly.
  • Nearby gas stations and towns: our server (Supabase) first. It receives only a map square of about 11 km and keeps the answer for that square with no device key, IP address or other link to you, so riders can share it. If it can't answer, the app asks Overpass directly.
  • Routing: Apple Maps, TomTom and OSRM. TomTom also finds gas stations, rest areas and scenic views along your route when OpenStreetMap is unavailable.
  • Traffic incidents and speed limits: TomTom.
  • Weather, radar and air quality: Open-Meteo, the US National Weather Service, NOAA and RainViewer.

These providers receive your IP address and the location in the request, as any website you visit would. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.

AI Heads-Up Cards (Invite Only)

The app registers a random device key (no name, email or account) with our server so a device can be invited to the AI heads-up cards beta. Until a device is approved, only that key is sent. On an approved device, while the app is open, a small ride snapshot is sent every few minutes: location rounded to about 100 meters, speed, heading, altitude, ride and range miles, nearby fuel and town names, current weather, battery level and the local time. It is stored on our server (Supabase) as a ride log so the copilot can write cards, and is never sold or shared with advertisers. Ask us at the address below to delete it.

Android Beta Diagnostics

On the Android beta only, the app sends its diagnostic log to our server (Supabase) so we can fix problems we cannot test ourselves. The log is tied to the app's random device key, not your name or email, and records what the app did: screens, errors, device and system version, and app events during rides, including precise location, speed and route details. It may be sent in the background while the app runs. It is used only to fix the app, never sold or shared with advertisers, and deleted after 30 days. The iPhone app does not send this log. To have yours deleted sooner, write to us at the address below.

Auto Share Nearby (Off Unless You Turn It On)

If you turn on Auto share nearby in Share Cards, the app sends your phone's current precise location and your Rider Card (bike name, rider name, stats and the card photos, never speed, routes or ride history) to our server (Supabase) about every 2 seconds. The server keeps only your latest location, never a history, and uses it only to find other riders who stay within about 50 feet of you for 10 seconds and also turned Auto share on, so your cards can be swapped. While that 10 seconds counts, it notes which other auto-sharing phones are near yours (never where); that note is deleted as soon as you move apart, and within 15 minutes at most. It also tells your phone how many other auto-sharing riders are within about a quarter mile right now (a number only, never who or where), so the app can count group rides for the Group Rides badge. Other riders get your card and that count, never your location. Your location and card are deleted from the server 15 minutes after the app last checks in, and right away when you turn Auto share off. Like the AI cards, it works only on approved devices.

Sharing Your Card by Text or Link

When you share your Rider Card from the share sheet, the app uploads the card (bike name, rider name, stats and the card photos, never your location, speed, routes or ride history) to our server (Supabase) and shares a link with a random code. Anyone who has that link can open the card in Ride Copilot, so share it only with people you want to have it. The card is deleted from the server 30 days after the link was made (sharing the same card again restarts the 30 days). Like the AI cards, it works only on approved devices.

Cloud Backup (Pro)

With an active Pro subscription, the app backs up your ride data to our server (Supabase): your rides with their full GPS tracks, stats, bikes, fuel and maintenance logs, badges, Rider Cards you collected (other riders' names, bikes and stats), favorite places, saved routes and settings. Photos and videos are not included, and neither is the app's device key. It runs on Wi-Fi after each ride and once a day, or when you tap Back up now. The backup is stored privately and is reachable only by a phone that proves, with the App Store's signed receipt, that it holds your subscription, so there is no account or password. We keep one backup per subscription (each new one replaces the last) and never sell or share it. To delete it, write to us at the address below.

Crash Texts (Pro)

If you add up to three phone numbers under Crash texts and the phone alarm sounds after a fall without being cancelled, the app sends those numbers, your first name and your last location to our server (Supabase), which sends each number one text through our texting provider, Twilio. The wording is fixed by us. Before any crash text, each new number gets one invite text and only people who reply YES get crash texts; anyone can reply STOP at any time. To honor those answers we keep a one-way scrambled code of each number (not the number itself) with its answer (invited, YES or STOP) and the dates. We do not store the phone numbers, your location or the text; we also keep a count of texts sent, for the limits. The numbers you enter stay on your phone. Phone numbers and texting consent are never sold or shared with anyone for marketing. This does not contact 911 or any emergency service.

Live Location Link (Pro)

When you start a live location share, the app sends your location to our server (Supabase) about every 30 seconds until you stop it, the ride ends, or it times out (12 hours at most), and gives you a link with a random code to send to people you choose. Anyone with that link can see your latest location, your first name and your speed on a web page until the share ends. Only your latest spot is kept, never a trail, and it is erased when you stop sharing.

Ride Copilot Pro Purchases

Subscriptions are bought and managed through the App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details; the app asks the store whether your subscription is active and keeps that answer on the phone. Cloud backup, crash texts and live location links send the store's signed record of your subscription (product, dates and a transaction number, never payment details) to our server to check it.

3. Tracking

Ride Copilot does not track you across apps or websites, has no ads, and contains no third-party analytics.

4. Your Choices

  • Turn any permission off in iOS Settings → Ride Copilot. Features that need it stop; the rest keep working.
  • Delete a ride, photo or video in the app at any time.
  • Delete the app to remove everything it stored on your phone. A Pro cloud backup is deleted when you ask us.

5. Safety

Ride Copilot shows information; it does not control your motorcycle. Ride by what you see on the road, not by the screen.

6. Children

Ride Copilot is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date below before the change ships.

8. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
